Of the many, many reasons to loathe Chris Martin & Coldplay, the greatest is the band's incredible lameness. Reigning white people favorite U2 is looking over their shoulder, like 'Whoa those jackasses are approaching our levels of pomp and self-worship and empty spectacle.' (At least Martin punches dudes occasionally.) But there's a new reason: They're stealers, like Denis Leary from Bill Hicks and Avenged Sevenfold from my butt! Reuters reports:
Joe Satriani's copyright infringement suit, filed on Thursday in Los Angeles federal court, claims the Coldplay song "Viva La Vida" incorporates "substantial original portions" of his 2004 instrumental "If I Could Fly." The 52-year-old guitar virtuoso is seeking a jury trial, damages and "any and all profits" attributable to the alleged copyright infringement.
Wait a sec, after seeing that fucking iPod ad, I thought the Coldplay tune (listen) borrowed from Puffy Ami Yumi/Andy Sturmer tune "Long Beach Nightmare" from 2003 (below below :28 - :36). Geez, at least they could just copy other people's stuff, not lift it outright. That's what I do. For example, let's act like the below comparison of "If I Could Fly" (2004) and "Viva La Vida" (2008) was created by me! Ahem.
