At this point, we're barely skimming Bitchtallica news items, emphatically pointless and distressing as they are. This bit about the band's new video shoot jumped out though. From MTV:
According to guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield, the clip won't be making any lofty political statements about the war in Iraq. Instead, it's a statement on humanity, helmed by acclaimed Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, who, along with Lars von Trier, co-founded the Dogme 95 movement in filmmaking.
Um, what? The same Thomas Vinterberg who directed the pulverizing feel-bad drama The Celebration? Directing a watery war fantasy Gutallica video? Barf! And though the video hasn't even been seen yet, Hetfield is already rushing to head off any controversy, soothing his red state fans with assurances that the video and song aren't anti-war. Pussy!
